How many of you can say you have a friend in Indiana? I hope the answer was at least one! They’re wonderful people – vibrant, outgoing, and they have good taste in music. I’m blessed enough to say I have become friends with three really colorful individuals from this midwest home away from home (four including Bisco Bill but he was more of a festival acquaintance). I know that if I ever get stranded in the Hoosier state, I’d make it through just fine during those troubling times. But one of these folks happens to be a wildly talented Dubstep producer from a small lake town called Michigan City, just minutes from the border of their northeastern neighbor state. I first caught Chromadubz perform back in 2018 when I went to one of the staple venues in the Wisconsin Dubstep scene, and I’ve been digging his sounds ever since I saw him tear the Miramar roof down.
While Monxx ended up not being able to make it that evening, we still ended up catching incredible acts like He$H, 2Fac3d and of course, Stephen Chromadubz (you can read about that insane night right here). Since that day, I’ve managed to develop a relationship with this wonkified, big afro sporting sound bender. I asked Chroma if he would bless my newfound online music outlet Charlotte Sessions Audio with a tune for our first compilation album, Royal Rhythm, and he graciously said yes. I’m proud to say that a very froggy and wobbly song came out of this special request. “Chromatoad” is by far one of my favorite tunes of all time, and we are very lucky to have it on this universe.
Several months passed by and I was finally ready to create another concept album for the world to enjoy. Except instead of boasting variety like we did on Royal Rhythm, this new project was strictly focused on the Riddim Dubstep genre that many of us have come to know and love since its huge rise just a few years ago. This paved way for the creation of the Riddim Boat, an album featuring some of the grimiest underground artists of all time such as Felony, LAEM, Mohno and Dizzy III. This album gave Chromadubz the perfect chance to release an instant classic banger better known as “Lonely Water“. I’m quite impressed with everything that Chromadubz has accomplished in the past year! I’m very much looking forward to what he has in store for the rest of 2020.
Much love to you Chromadubz! Thank you for the wonky sounds brother.
