YES, LOLLAPALOOZA

You read that right, Lollapalooza! The yearly infamous music festival that takes place in Grant Park, located in the heart of Chicago is right around the corner. Once known to be a traveling music

festival that saw thousands of fans throughout multiple cities across the United States, Lollapalooza has transpired into something much more than a 20 something date tour. Since 2005 the festival has established itself in the Windy City, with recent expansions to Argentina, Chile, Brasil, and now Colombia and Germany.

Traditionally, the Lollapalooza madness begines near the end of July; this year the festival is set to take place throughout July 31 – August 2nd, and the line up, varied as always, is one of the best yet. Lolla never misses out on the opportunity to headline amazing artists who acted as pioneers in their genres when they first emerged in the 60s and 80s, and this year, Paul McCartney and Metallica will be filling in the shoes.

Rap fans, generally, never have to worry about the good folk behind the scenes to book some great performers. In years past we’ve see artists like J. Cole, Chance The Rapper, Childish Gambino, Run The Jewels, Eminem, Macklemore, and more. THIS YEAR, we’ve got some great acts to look forward too. Are you a fan of TDE? Well, SZA will be there representing. Maryland’s very own 2013 XXL Freshmen, Logic will be tearing up Perry’s stage Sunday. Infamous Los Angeles artist, and Odd Future frontman Tyler, The Creator will be performing jams off his new album Cherry Bomb at the Paladia stage on Saturday. And what better addition to a rap lineup than the Man on The Moon himself, Kid Cudi? Cudi will take the Budlight stage Saturday. Is it time for a 2015 A$AP Rocky performance? I think so! And with the release of his new album, At Long Last A$AP, it’s bound to be a great one. Also, make sure you take a chance to check out 2015 Georgia XXL Freshmen, Raury, who will be performing tracks off his debut album, Indigo Child.

Ravers will NOT want to miss out on this year’s Chicago experience. Lolla promoters have never had a problem booking some of the best Electronic Music Artists, and this year is no exception. Most of the action will go down at Perry’s Stage. On Friday you can expect amazing trap and dance producers, like France’s DJ Snake and LA’s Dillon Francis to tear things down. But if you’re into hip-hop instrumentals then why not stick around for Flying Lotus or DJ Mustard? Saturday will be just as great as DAY 1. Expect some cool trance and tropical house music from Hermitude and Alesso. Ready for more trap and maybe a little bit of dubstep? Then the move will definitely be the DJ Carnage, Caked Up, and RL Grime should be at the top of your list. As for Funday Sunday, the talent pool is ridiculous; The Chainsmokers and Nicky Romero are both playing Perry’s stage, Bassnectar will be shredding the boards at the Budlight stage, NGHTMRE will be bringing down the house at the Palladia stage. Definitely not the last producer artist on this dope lineup, but everyone’s favorite tropical house producer, Kygo, is set to end the night at the Pepsi stage.

A big problem that most attendees face is show scheduling. With Tyler, The Creator and one of his favorite psychedelic rock band’s Tame Impala, performing at the same time, along with another time conflict between Carnage and Kid Cudi, worldwide Lollapalooza fans will have to prioritize if they want to see all of their artists. Or they could just do like I do and catch 20 minutes of one set, then run across the mile long park through thousands of people to catch the end someone else’s set.

There are too many great artists on the bill for us to mention, and we don’t want to overwhelm you with a bunch of boring text, so here’s a picture of the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday schedule for all of you die hard Lolla fans.

WOAH, Here’s Friday. If you asked us who else we’re excited to see on this glorious Saturday, our answer would be The Weeknd, Alabama Shakes, and BadBadNotGood.

Saturday What’s Up!!1! If things go the way we want them to (which they never do), we hope to see Aussie singer/proudcer Chet Faker, the amazing Charli XCX, and the ever growing Toro Y Moi.

SUNDAY FUNDAY: If we haven’t convinced you to empty out your wallet and buy a marked up Lollapalooza ticket by now, let’s give it one last go with our other preffered Sunday performers. We’re gonna try our very best to fit all these intense sets into our schedule, and hopefully some of these shows will include the beautiful Alison Wonderland, dance music maniacs NERO, and of course the alternative, pop, hip-hop duo, Twenty One Pilots.
