Sometimes the most fun comes from playing random old Dubstep tracks from 2009 and the few years following that made up the Golden Era of Dubstep music. Not to say that artists nowadays aren’t producing tracks as crazy as the one we’re going to show you today, but just thinking about jamming out to these same songs for 6.. er I mean 7 years straight gets me excited about what’s next for what we like to call “the Pioneers of Dubstep.”
It’s true, the dubstep movement started much earlier than the Circus Records explosion that took place in the few years preceding 2010. But no one can deny the legacy created by founders Flux Pavilion and Doctor P.
The two are known for creating intricate sounds never heard by the average human. And while some may say that dubstep has lost the appeal that it once had when the movement first started, CDJ heroes like Doctor P, are the reason crazy kids like us still spend $30 to go hear some songs we used to listen to five years ago. Doctor P had gained an immense amount of popularity because of his tunes Big Boss and Flying Spaghetti Monster.
At the near end of 2015 he dropped a huge, unexpected collab with Far East Movement titled Business. He played an insane unannounced B2B set with Circus Records buddies Cookie Monsta and Funtcase. For being an outstanding DJ and continuously making stupid fun music to blare at home, we award you, Doctor P, with the title of today’s DJ of the Day.
