For the sake of understanding why I think this experimental trap duo from New Orleans has mastered the art of stereophonic distribution, imagine your ear canals have been routed directly to the air ducts running throughout the ceiling above you. Next, imagine those ducts have been infested by a rowdy family of metallic creatures that wrestle and roll around in a strange and abrasive yet satisfyingly rhythmic fashion.
I honestly can’t paint a clearer a picture than that.
Give it a listen.
Some of the biggest aspects I respect about this ear-catching trap duo from Louisiana is that their beats are forward thinking yet always on point, their sound design is undeniably top-tier, and their artistic brand of flow shines properly alongside fellow NoLa natives Boogie T. & bàwldy.
Coming up on just about four years of releasing music as a duo, Jacob Hoerner and Michael Pearson have been Sfam ever since I discovered EDM. About two years back when I came across their music, it seemed they had hit a pivotal point in the discovery of their sound as Sfam. From then on, I listened in as the young engineers continued to improve their sound and finally discover their vision. After years of evident hustle and a genuine desire to focus on their individual sound, the duo has already amassed an impressive following. S/o to the “Sfamily”! In my opinion, the two producers incorporate some of the best, most innovative percussive elements in the game, and with support from industry greats like Bassnectar, UZ, Toadface, Kai Wachi, Sumthin Sumthin and others, you might have more of a reason to believe me. These boys know nothing less than how to absolutely throw down. In their most recent live showcase release, the duo delivers a heavy and undeniably potent concoction of filthy low end flows, and crisp stereophonic minimal trap beats. Incorporating their own brand of distinctive stylistic percussion techniques, the duo embraces a sound you won’t hear from any other DJs out there.
