Sitting Down With Scripta (the October Interview)

How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard your music before? Where are you from?
Well, I generally don’t dive too deep into sub genres just because I feel like I produce more than one style of music, but if I had to put a name on my sound I’d say “Deep Psychedelic Bass Music.” Also, I’m from Greensboro NC.

What are some of your favorite recent releases that everyone should hear before seeing your set on November 9th?
My favorite tune that I have produced lately is “Drop it Low.” People have also really been digging my recent tunes “Space Wobble” featuring Juicy Jesus and “The Groove” which is a fat collaboration with Snakko.

What excites you the most about your performance at SWHYLD Volume 5?
The last time I played in Charlotte was at Digital Gardens earlier this year and the energy was excellent, so I’m super excited to be back and loaded with a buttload of new music to share with the Charlotte bass community.

What are you going to dress up as for Halloween?
Hunter S. Thompson, a huge inspiration to me and a super fun person to dress as.

The Fear and Loathing Legend! What’s a word of advice you’d give to the new producers working hard out there?
Keep pushing and don’t give up. Always remember to make music for yourself 💚

If you could collaborate with anybody, from any genre, who would it be and why?
Man, that’s a tough one. There are so many amazing artists that I’d love to make music with but if I had to choose, at this point in time, I’m gonna have to go with Eazybaked. I love the music those guys produce and would love to mix my sound with theirs.

We just saw Eazybaked with the Lost Dogz bois Vide and Milano in Asheville, great answer! What are some end of the year plans for Scripta that you care to share?
I have some BIG collabs coming very soon, including a DnB tune with BroMosapien, a deep dub tune with Snakko and another vibey one with Juicy Jesus on the vox. Also expect to see another Scripta EP before the year is over.
