The time has finally come ladies and gentlemen! After frequenting their events for the past seven years, Sugar Society and the Charlotte Sessions are finally working together on a creative project. It was quite the honor when the folks from this prominent concert organization decided on a fun way for me to get involved with their massive plans for the Queen City EDM and Dubstep scene. As many of you know, a certain legend from the capital of our beautiful state is making his way back to Charlotte for a very special holiday concert. NGHTMRE has absolutely been tearing apart stages across the globe for several years now. If you’ve caught him at festivals like Lost Lands, Hulaween or EDC, then you know just exactly what to expect from his Charlotte return. But as legend has it, every good concert needs an even better after party – and what better place to host it at our favorite Dubstep sanctuary, SERJ?
The Wonky Tonk Disco After Party will see the likes of Carolina veterans like Irewl, Rave Charles, Bassfunction, and OUZA. If you’ve ever been to a concert at SERJ, then you know how much fun this intimate setting type venue truly can be. One of my favorite aspects about SERJ is the outdoor area where concert organizers can plan a whole separate stage for music to keep folks entertained while they take a breath of fresh air. The Charlote Sessions had the opportunity of organizing the patio area, so naturally, we wanted to bring forth artists who we’ve never had the pleasure of working with before. (PS. Check out this fresh new collaboration between OUZA and XTALS.)
When I started thinking about who to call for this unique opportunity, I realized that it would be an exciting move to bring out Charlotte based producer A-Pod – this man is an excellent mixmaster and more so, and even better producer. A-Pod is sure to bring a good variety of sound to the Wonky Tonk Disco. Up next is the likes of DEV TRO, a rising producer and hard working DJ from the Queen City! This will actually be DEV TRO’s first performance at a concert, so he’s beyond excited for this once in a lifetime experience.
I remember meeting this special Boone based producer at the rest area on our way home from Lost Lands – after chatting back and forth since the day the festival ended, it only seemed right to have him perform with the Charlotte Sessions familia on December 12th! Don’t forget to dress up warm because Jack Frozt is bringing the cool sounds to SERJ very soon! A little less than a month ago I hosted a small concert at SERJ featuring the likes of several incredible Carolina producers and DJs, and a terrifically heavy producer from Atlanta named Anodic. He brought along one of his best friends from the wobbly and ever so crafty duo known as Perma-Trip, to show out and rinse some nasty tunes that no one has ever heard before. When I was given the news about this After Party experience, I knew that it would be the right move to reach out to A-town heroes and bring them back to the Queen City for a proper showdown of Riddim and Dubstep.
Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to introduce a very special guest from the Greensboro region – the one and only DJ Disco Daddy! I had the pleasure of meeting Jordan upon my return to Guilford County, and when we both realized that we shared similar interests in and out of the Dubstep world, I knew we would end up being friends. It’s safe to say that this Disco Daddy vinyl performance is going to rock the crowd away. Get ready for some old school Nectar and other vinyl pressed bangers to rock your world in just a few days!
