I hope this story doesn’t piss you off – and if it does, don’t let it ruin your day! Don’t forget that there are some people in this world like me who actually really like MONXX and his music. But Zyven, what about all the people he’s.. NOPE. Not my concern. Usually I bite my tongue when it comes to controversial topics in the music scene, but since I know there are several people in the Riddimverse who don’t like the Peterborough native producer any more than they like poppy seed bagels, I expect a little backlash. Folks, my MONXX experience is actually quite the opposite from most.
I’ve always been a fan of MONXX older creations and collab like “Technology” and “Carnage” with Emilian Wonk, or “Crunch Time” with MED – I remember how Swamp Stomp was one of the first tunes I started mixing with. I’ll never forget how I drove six hours to Washington DC to see him play at DC Eagle all thanks to the homies at Mushmouth Media. I even sat in the basement of the club doing my linguistics homework (to no success because I finished with a D in this class). Eventually I made my way to the stage to say hello to a few friends I recognized, and that was when the tall, easily recognizable badmon said hello to me and introduced himself as Josh. I thought to myself, ‘this is the big asshole that I see people complain about online? Can’t be.‘ My mother raised me not to judge a book by its cover, nor write somebody off for mistakes they’ve made in the past with other people. As far as iwbss concerned, I was just a kid from North Carolina who really wanted to see MONXX perform his debut in our nation’s capitol.
Anyways. The main reason I’m writing this piece today is because MONXX posted in the Valhalla Sound Circus page announcing his newest creation appropriately titled “WONKY TRAIN“. This is when I started perusing through all of MONXX other creations, and I come to find out he’s released a whole album a few months ago titled World of Wonk, whjch absolutely slaps if you were wondering.
But I thoroughly find the welter weight boxer introduction to be quite entertaining, especially meshed in with MONXX signature wonkified style. If you’ve been waiting for some new music from the British Wizard, then you’ve come to the right place. “WONKY TRAIN” will set you straight. Josh, if you’re reading this, please bring your absolute nastiest drops to Montreal – I have high expectations after that filthy DC show!
